Kill file and date. Seems to be the bane of stamp discussion. You may
already be dead. I'm sure I am.

You were killfiled on 8th January 1926?
a piece of mock petulance I'm sure, but if your dead
who wrote the email?

I was kill-filed before there was an internet.

Writing the date with the year first is the best way to get dates to
properly sequence so it is 2008 January 26th. I use dates that way
for naming computer files such as internet auctions and I like them to
be in a proper sequence.

I'm kf'ed because I can't seem to have a conversation in this ng
without putting someones knickers in a twist. The amazing thing is
the 'discussions' have usually been about stamps.

According to certain pundits, stamp collecting is dead so we must all
be dead with it! :^)

I think the dead are keeping it alive. I can picture Beetlejuice
posting rants here.

Indeed, I had tongue firmly in cheek.
I name every file I ever make in this fashion, albeit long 20080112
it keeps everything in order,
and you know how we stamp collctors like order

I have found it invaluable when dating software downloads
as well, otherwise versions can get mixed up.

Nope. That's the "sort order" short year for databases. Have to be
geeky to understand it. I just said that?

You missed an "e". Time for a new keyboard.

No wonder your computer is having problems. You're match-making your
files! (Re-read your sentence)

For computer sorting you use the format year, month, day.

I KF those who ask for iinformation, then choose a small point or slip,
ignoring the rest, to show their 'prowess' and then turn snippy asides.

I have more to do than bother with those who reply with " I'm
sure someone knows the real answers but it is fun to speculate."
and other 'asides'.

No, you're not (yet? G) KF'd !

The often misunderstood element in email (and other quick
conversational mediums) is the emphasis. I read your initial posting
over numerous times to try to get the tone and figure out what exactly
I was dealing with as I'm a little gun-shy in these ngs. I then try
to match the cadence, almost in respect to the individual and the
conversation. I didn't get upset, I just took it as any New Yorker
would, as a joust of words. My impression of answers that you have
posted to many people seemed satirical in an almost wise-guy attitude,
humorous wise-cracks, not altogether unpleasant but not really
brimming with sensitivity either.
On the other hand an 'aside' is a deference, acquiescence to
anyone out there who might pick up the discussion with some needed
knowledge. I have considering discontinuing 'asides'. They seem at
times pointless but they don't upset me. They are used quite often in
conversation. The other thing I do is try see it from both sides.
That's a chknsht way to be. I say take a stand one side or the other,
whether it is right or wrong instead of that wishy-washy ,"maybe I'm
wrong but.." crap. From now on there is a new me.
I felt that considering what little I had read or heard of paste-
up pairs and double paper in the Scott's Catalog and elsewhere, and
their absence from auctions, they were a worthy topic of discussion in
the stamp ng. That they are not valued in Scott's, I consider quite
significant as they are as much a part of Coils as Guide and Joint
Lines are.
I will never stop speculating as it is great fun and an
interesting way to view the world. It involves invention and
discovery. It is in fact one of the most important aspects of my
work.
I don't have a kill-file, but I picture someone with their hands
over their ears, eyes closed and maybe their tongue sticking out. Is
that spittle? ('8^P%. symbols like these are also useful in
sequencing.

Default Paste-Up Pairs of Coil Stamps

G'day Tom,
I had to google, I had not come across the term "paste up" before,
it seems highly specialised with prices from $45 to open ended,
there are a few with images here
http://www.hrharmer.com/sales/2961/HTML/2961_05.html

Perhaps you can email harmers for any links to specialised sites.

I don't know if this is strictly a US question. I have a number of
paste-up pairs, specifically US Sc# 458 (hinged), 457 (hinged) and 394
Mint, plate #5424 with APS Cert. I'm evaluating these and am
wondering if what sort of premium is attached to them. Scott's doesn't
go into the values of Paste-up pairs. Maybe if someone has an idea of
how often they would occur then it could be compared to Guide-Line
pairs. Anyone know that information, value and frequency?
Thanks,
TL
