Default Charlie & Chocolate Factory - 1st points?

Still trying to find out if 1st (getting ready for onslaught) - 6-line
colophon, green endpapers, but ISBN back panel of dust jacket - just
early reprint?
Thanks

Yes, sounds like it's probably a much later reprint. How does the colophon
read, exactly?

Sorry for delay (setting up new computer, feel as if I've been through
a war). $3.95 price on d/j flap, no date on title page, LCC 63-14604,
copyright 1964. ISBN on back of d/j is 394-81011-2. Colophon on last
page reads:

About the Author
Roald Dahl is an adult author of widespread reputation for the
unusual, in such best-selling books as Someone Like You and
Kiss Kiss. His first book for children was the fantasy James and
The Giant Peach, published by Knopf Borzoi Books.
Mr. Dahl and his wife, Academy Award-winning actress,
Patricia Neal, live with their three children in England.

Text set in Bembo
Composed at Photo-Composing Room, New York City
printed by Book Press, Brattleboro, Vt.
Typogaphy by Atha Tehon

Thanks for any help

Only the last part would be the colophon, and the first state has six lines
of printing info, while later versions have five. My sons' copy has 5
lines, and yours is almost the same. Could you have left out some? Mine
reads (lines 3 & 4): Printed by Halliday Lithography Corp., West Hanover,
Mass. / Bound by Book Press, Brattleboro, Vt.

The brown & cream binding with green endpapers also came with later
printings. Judging from the ABE listings, the true first had a red binding,
dark-yellow (mustard, ochre, etc.) endpapers, and red-brown topstain. And,
as you probably suspected, a book originally isued in 1964 would not have
been released at that time with an ISBN.

Thanks, Jon, for info - guess I can safely say it's not a 1st. So the
colophon is only for the printing info? (so much to learn, so little
time - guess I got excited thinking the "About the Author" (6-line)
blurb was the colophon. No, didn't leave anything out of colophon,
only 4 lines - just to complicate it even more.

Actually looking forward to the movie, maybe they won't butcher it too
much, liked Depp in Finding Neverland.
Thnx again
