Seeburg STD2 Amp Help - Michigan
I just got a Seeburg STD-2 (with the SHP3 amp) with an amplifier
problem. I have a feeling it could use a rebuild, or at least something. I'm not sure how much work was done previously, but obviously some stuff has been done to it - including a fuse "bridge" connector or whatever you call those things to attach a regular fuse to a pigtail.... I managed to get the DCC fixed up, and everything else for the most part seems to be working well. Finnally got it to scan, select and play... Now I just can't hear anything but a hum. Any suggestions, or anyone suggest a place to get this repaired? Or even better, anyone in the West Michigan Area want to give it a shot? Thank you so Much! Matt does the hum go up & down when the volume is moved and go silent
when turned all the way down ? if so it may be cartridge / input wiring .. If the hum stays its most likely bad capacitors in the amp . Any halfway friendly electronics repair shop should be able to do that . Just dont get overcharged $$$ . |

Yeah, it's just a constant hum --- the volume knob looked disonnected,
but I reconnected it and still just a constant hum.... I did pick up all the seeburg books, so I'm good there. Today I replaced all fuses and relays and still same issue. I'm going to have the amp rebuilt. I was going to send it out to C&C electronics in Ohio... What should I expect to pay to have this thing rebuilt? Thanks a ton! Seeburg STD2 Amp Help - Michigan
I have not seen that amp but i just rebuilt an STD4 amp . It was not a
big deal . I suppose one of those rebuild services would go ``whole hog`` and charge over 200$ or so ?? I think 100$ or less total would be a fair price to do the one i did . I dont see where you would have to send that away just to have a few capacitors repaced . Can you try a local shop ? |

Any thoughts of those capictor kits on Ebay from Jukebox Friday Night?
Looks like you can get a whole set for $35.... Thanks again for all the help! Matt On Mon, 23 Apr 2007 20:04:48 -0600, (Ken G.) wrote: I have not seen that amp but i just rebuilt an STD4 amp . I would think they are just fine . I dont know your skills but if you
can identify the capacitors parts value numbers both in the amp and the new parts ...and you can solder real good you can do it . Or at least armed with a fist full of the correct capacitors your friendly repair shop can only charge you for labor . Is that kit for `your` amp ???? 35$ sounds cheap |
