Default Red Plate 77

I have just been searching through an SG Windsor album containing just
early Victorian stamps. To my surprise in the Perforate Red Plate
section I saw that one was included for the infamous Plate 77. I am
not an expert on stamps, but I do know that Plate 77 is extremely
rare.

Are there any experts out there, or who I could approach elsewhere,
that could give me some idea whether this stamp is genuine, or, as I
suspect, is probably a Plate 177 with a poorly entered "1".

A high resolution scan can be found at

Hmmm.... looks like it could be a worn plate 79 to me.

On the other hand, there are forgeries about!!

David.
