Longfellow Signature by Daniel
I was wondering if somebody might help me identifying a signature. It is a longfellow signature, but likely not Henry W. Longfellow or his wives, since it appears to be from June of a year at or after 1888. You can view it at http://www.bluewombat.com/images/longfellow.jpg.

The end of a 25 year search by Monboddo
A large brag. I have finally obtained the last needed volume completing a set of 21 books that I have been collecting for more than 25 years. The Private Papers of James Boswell from the Collection of Lt. Colonel Ralph Heyward Isham is shown on page 43 of "At Home With Books" written by...

Editorials...was "Copying Dust Jacket blurbs" by Jbrodie1750
Richard Moriarty asked: On what basis do think that it is ok to copy dustjacket blurbs in book listings? To which Mark Healy answered: Legally, I don't know or care. I don't like it and it reduces my estimation of the seller.

Is this an ex-library? by Al Kaff
I recently acquired a 1st edition copy of Deadlier Than the Male by James Gunn, 1st edition with dust jacket, published in 1942 by Duell, Sloan and Pearce, Inc. I am wondering if I have some sort of ex-library copy. The dust jacket is in very good condition with a slightly visible quarter...

Major Brag by diane.walker
I was putting my washing on the line in the garden this morning, when I heard a plane flying over. Soon after, and much to my surprise I heard a loud swishing noise then a bang. I went to investigate and found at the bottom of my garden, a book. On further investigation I found it to be a...

SIXPENCE HOUSE first printing? by Jim
The copy of Paul Collins' SIXPENCE HOUSE I just got from Amazon has the note "First Edition," but the number line only goes to 2. I'm not familiar with Bloomsbury's style. Does this (as I fear) mean I have a second printing of the first edition? Jim

I'm looking for a book, don't know the author, the publisher but do know the subject. by InsanityIsFun
Sometime in 1991(2?), a couple of guys came through Casa grande AZ, and they where putting together a coffee table book. It would feature as many older men who ownered businesses along old route 66. Though they had many photos of older men in front of their establishments, the one I remember is...

Price clipped - how much difference does it make? by .pd.
Hello bibliophiles, I have read the FAQ but it doesn't give an idea of how much difference price clipping makes to the value of a book. I'm not very experienced in book collecting and I've been told it's not worth buying if it's price clipped. Is it true?

Of Mice and Men and a DeLillo brag by ann greenfield
There is to be an auction here with some excellent books, even though many are listed as firsts but aren't. I have my doubts about this one...it has the points (dot between the 8's on page 88, and "pendula" on page 9) but the DJ is price clipped. Actually, it is clipped on both corners of the...

An Exception to the Rule by Mark
I had a customer ask me a question about those Readers Digest Condensed Books. I remarked that I put themn out for three for a dollar because they're usually worthless and hard to get rid of. He caught my "usually" and asked me if there were any exceptions to the rule. ... I had no idea. I'm still...
