1. Uncertified rare date coin
2. Lousy pictures That's all you need to know. Don't even think about it. If the seller would send a reasonable picture, rather than the crappy one he
used, you might be able to tell. But as is I wouldn't have even bid the minimum $0.01. "Stardancer" wrote in message ink.net... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3046939144 &category=41085 Looks like it to me. Regards Dan |

Well, he has 67 negs, and his description sounds like a carnival side-show.
I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole. --Jeff "Stardancer" wrote in message ink.net... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3046939144 &category=41085 Looks like it to me. Regards Dan |

For what its worth, The N in ONE looks like it was chisled off rather than
just being weak. Fred "maybe someone wanted to help it along?" "Mineralogy" wrote in message s.com... Dan asks if this coin is counterfeit:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=3046939144 &category=41085 Looks like it to me. The 7s on obverse are not natural to a genuine piece IMHO and on the reverse, the weakness at the center isn't there but a portion of a serif on one of the Ns is missing. The rims seem wire in some areas and the denticles don't flow towards the edge as on genuine examples. Of course, the lousy photos, done that way on purpose I believe, don't make diagnosis easy! You might ask, could this be a proof coin? Might be, but I doubt it. Most of this guy's coins look polished and he even states that it was cleaned at one time to resemble a MS-65! I wouldn't touch it. You know, it's "dealers" like this guy with their continuous estate sales amd no returns for any reason policy that give legitamete sellers on eBay a bad name, and it's not fair to tar all with the same brush. ira, once again you are a wealth of information on coins and sellers.
although i have disagreed with eric and a few others over minor details like feedback, shipping cost and other minor selling details, i have learned a tremendous amount about this hobby and the business of selling coins. haven't sold any yet, but my purchases are getting a lot fewer and a lot smarter (i think). i have also leaned that there are many very honest and honorable people here who are willing to help others with no reward other than good feelings, and helping promote a great hobby. just my day to say thanks to all of you for over a years worth of valuable information. crownliner "Ira Stein" wrote in message ... Who would buy such an expensive key date coin with bad images like that?
