Let the newsgroup scroll proclaim that "Bob Peterson"
scribed upon its pages in : People seem to have forgotten that the first amendment (and the others as well) have to do mostly with prohibitions on the conduct of government, not on private individuals. It would seem to be a legitimate case to argue if the government owned the ISP in question, but since they don't they are free to run their business as they see fit. You're right in that; however, I would guess a lot of ISPs have behavior standards more designed to keep them out of trouble with the law than to comply with moral codes. Hence, with the removal of behavior restrictions by the high court, many ISPs probably won't care one way or the other about language, as long as it doesn't conflict with the current court rulings. ISPs are in such a battle for the customer base I would imagine few are willing to eliminate revenue for the sake of taking the moral high ground. It brings to mind years ago when shopping centers and dollar stores here had big signs up in the windows saying "Closed On Sunday. The Day Is Worth More Than The Dollar." Odd thing was, as soon as the state's "blue laws" were revoked allowing sales of everything on Sunday, the signs came down and, suddenly, the dollar was worth more than the day. Now everybody's open on Sunday. -- Allen McBroom www.NPSTKD.com Remove WOOF when replying by email |

"mark" wrote in message ... From: "Frank Provasek" Spam is BULK unsolicited commercial email. Not anymore (if that ever was the case). Under US law, spam is whatever your ISP says it is: http://www.spamlaws.com/federal/108s877.html "(c) NO EFFECT ON POLICIES OF PROVIDERS OF INTERNET ACCESS SERVICE- Nothing in this Act shall be construed to have any effect on the lawfulness or unlawfulness, under any other provision of law, of the adoption, implementation, or enforcement by a provider of Internet access service of a policy of declining to transmit, route, relay, handle, or store certain types of electronic mail messages." -- mark Which is completely different from "spam is whatever the RECIPIENT says it is" |

Bull....and I see Frank is back bidding in your auctions without any success....but, that's the point, isn't it? Quite a bit of "loyalty" exhibited by all of you people from the Dallas/Fort Worth area. I have every right to bid on anyone's auctions I so choose. |

"Phil DeMayo" wrote in message ... As if his buddy Dorman weren't doing enough to keep these threads alive, Frank feels the need to dredge up a response I made 12 days ago and say: I have won a number of Bill Yate's auctions, Phil. But again, honesty is not your bag. Let's see Frank, I said, "Bull....and I see Frank is back bidding in your auctions without any success....but, that's the point, isn't it?" Given that since your reinstatement you have bid in 6 of his auctions and won exactly 0, how was I being dishonest? As far as past auctions go, Mr. Yates has received 2056 feedbacks dating back to March of 1998. Out of all of those feedbacks, exactly two were from you....one from 4-1/2 months ago and another from about 18 months ago. During that same period of time Mr. Yates has left 2377 feedbacks about others. Of those, exactly two were left for you....for the very same transactions. Now, while "2" is a number, calling "2" wins in the 2-1/2 years that you have had your own account "a number of wins" might be considered stretching the truth. Should I be questioning your honesty? How many dozens (hundreds???) of his auctions did you have to bid in to amass those "2" wins? You are being dishonest because you ASSume that the number of feedbacks equals number of transactions. Looking at my checkbook registry for 2003, I see 14 ebay purchases from Bill Yates. |

Your definition of "dishonest" is about as accurate and relevant as your definitions of "spam" and "shill". Can I expect responses from Dorman and Yates? Your friends certainly aren't helping your reputation. ++++++++++ Phil DeMayo - always here for my fellow Stooge When bidding online always sit on your helmet Just say NO to counterfeits |
