Default On Pens and Mishaps

So, I learned an important lesson. :-) Always make sure you check your
clothing for your very nice pens before washing them. See, if you
don't, then it is likely that those nice pens will spill Ink everywhere
on your clothes, and may or may not be damaged by the detergent. In my
case, it was my Montblanc Le Grande. :-( The finish held up well to the
detergent though, so I think it would have been okay if it had just
been through the washer.

Second important thing to note: don't every let your pen go through the
dryer, even if the heat setting is just "Delicate." As I have discover
through a most unintentional firsthand experience, Nibs don't like to
be thrashed around inside what can only be described as a Pen Oven. :-)
Needless to say, my MontBlanc is in for repairs. :-) (Fortunately the
repairs are cheaper than buying any of the new pens I was looking at.)

*sigh* I guess I am going to be a little more careful when I come home
at night now. :-P I wanted to hit my head against a brick wall for
letting my beloved pen go through that hellish experience. On the plus
side, it has brought some of my mostly decommissioned pens back into
action.

And since I was dealing with all these pen issues, I figured I might as
well go and find a new purchase. I've been without any good flexible
nib for Spencerian, so I went and decided to try out some extra
flexible dip pens. I hope they work nicely. :-)

Oh Aaron,

You must invest in a nice pen case or eyeglass case for your pens. No
more of that "shirt pocket" or "trouser pocket" stuff for you!

Yeah, well…I really should. :-) I guess that's not very convenient
though, when trying to actually use the pen in real life. ;-)

Well, it works for me. I just take the case out of my purse and then
choose the pen I want. The laundry rooom never knows about it!

That's definitely a good point. I think maybe I'll have to at least get
some kind of padded cigar holder for when I carry around a back pack or
briefcase.

*Cost-effective suggestion (* 'cheap' is such an ugly word):

Go to your run-of-the-mill store, like JC Penney or any store with an
optical shop in it. Of course, you can check a stand-alone optical
shop as well. You can get nice eyeglass cases for less than 15.00. I
chose the type that has a flap at the top. Some of mine also resemble
miniature purses, which you probably don't want. Anyway, I got some
foam from a hobby/sewing/arts/crafts place (no more than $2.00), cut
out some strips and stuck them in the case. VOILA!! A three-pen case
for the price of 3 lattes!

No need in withdrawing your annuity for a Piquadro.

Probably won't work for me. They all laugh when I bring my purse to work.

Then just clip the extra pens to your bra strap.

You're right Aaron.... Fountain pens do not like heat in any fashion.
I belive bees wax is used as a sealer and it will melt very easily.
When that happens, it's leaky-leaky galore from then on!
