Default Diamine ink?

Hi -

Has anyone tried Diamine ink? It's a UK-made ink, sold by The Writing
Desk.

I wonder what the ink is like for opacity, flow and resistance to water.

Regards

Tony

Yes, and I love the Royal Blue. It's a beautiful shade of blue, unlike any
other maker's blue. It's highly saturated like PR, and flows easily. It is
not waterproof. I think that Swisher has it on sale now.

I've tried Claret, Emerald, and Prussian Blue. All three are good inks from
what I can tell. Claret is very bright! Great editing ink. Might blind a
snail recipient though.

I would say that most of these inks are fairly dye-intense but not as much
as most PR inks. The Emerald is like a light Avacado (sic) and Prussian
blue is a soft sort of "antique-y" blue that I like a lot. Almost a slate
blue. I've heard a couple of the colors might be slow drying but in the
three I've tried, haven't had a problem.

And the Writing Desk folks are great!

I did something I swore I wouldn't do, I bought their two limited
edition inks. I was in FPH and I saw them, and I got them both -
Tropical Blue and also the Presidential Blue. The Tropical Blue is a
royal blue that really is special. The presidential blue is a little
more slate blue and is also stunning. I hate when they make LE inks and
don't continue them. PR was really smart to bring out American Blue
which is very VERY close to their Supershow Blue.
Let's hope Diamine is as smart.

Many thanks for the info. Any notes on waterfastness?

You are right, the Writing Desk people are very pleasant and very
helpful.

And thanks to other folks for replying, too.

Try Googling - there have been past comments on it.

I've used a couple of colours. The Maroon is gorgeous - deep rich dark
wine-red. The Claret was a bit gaudy for me, but the Maroon was just
what I wanted.

Their Dark Sepia was a bit of a disappointment to me. Too light and a
bit yellowish for what I want -- I'm still blending my own up from
Shaeffer's brown and a little black Quink.

As ink goes, it's good stuff. Nice bottles too. Shame their tops are
quite modern, because the glass itself is very retro looking. I
repaired an old writing slope a while ago by taking the top flip-cap
off its original broken inkwell and re-attaching it to an old Diamine
bottle with the threads sawn off.
