POST COIN-RELATED PICTURES only in news:alt.binaries.pictures.numismatic.
If your ISP or premium news server does not yet carry that newsgroup, ASK THEM FOR IT! ================================================== ========================= LOOK!! **FAQ** BEFORE POSTING!! **FAQ** WOW!! *** The difference between COOL and FOOL-ish posting!!! *** rec.collecting.coins FAQ: FAQ - http://www.telesphere.com/ts/coins/infodir.html FAQ full - http://www.telesphere.com/ts/coins/faq2.html charter/CFV - http://www.limunltd.com/numismatica/...urces/rcc.html votes - ftp://ftp.isc.org/usenet/news.announ...llecting.coins control - ftp://ftp.isc.org/usenet/control/rec...ecting.coins.Z alt.binaries.pictures.numismatic charter & control (see also at bottom): ftp://ftp.isc.org/usenet/control/alt...s.numismatic.Z See below for direct links to many of your NUMISMATIC (coin-related) questions. Preliminaries: 1.A. DO NOT TROLL posting abusive, contentious or crank off-topic articles 1.B. DO NOT FEED THE TROLLS respond to same Of course if you don't mind being ignored until your ISP suddenly yanks you, go ahead and make our day. (Crank on-topic articles are welcome, else the group would be empty except spam.) 2. HOW DO I **NOT** GET MY QUESTION ANSWERED OR MY COIN IDENTIFIED AND GET SUBJECTED TO ^^^FLAMES^^^ AND VARIOUS HUMILIATIONS INSTEAD? Often this results from posting a binary or picture attachment. In REC.COLLECTING.COINS, as a text only newsgroup, such attachments push a lot of legitimate messages off many servers. They also cost some users money to download before they know of the attachment. It is best to put your image on a freeserver, or in our companion binary newsgroup news:alt.binaries.pictures.numismatic, and post a link to it here that knowledgeable and interested subscribers can choose to follow and render a helpful opinion. And they usually do. If you post your image to news:alt.binaries.pictures.numismatic, do not crosspost it to RCC or any other text newsgroup. Follow directions in the charter and post your question or comment in the text group with directions or a link of the form news:message-id to your image. Also allow time for a response. This is not a chat room and it may take a day or more depending on the issue involved. Contentious follow-ups minutes or hours after the original post have been foci for much comedy and little information. Check back to the newsgroup for responses. Requests for e-mail responses will not generally be honored except for commercial offers, personal information and the like. 3. HOW DO I POST SELL OR BUY OFFERS THAT OFFEND AND ANTAGONIZE ANY AND ALL POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS AND CAUSE MY BUSINESS PRACTICES TO BE MOCKED AND RIDICULED? One good way is to leave the commercial ad prefixes such as FS: (for sale), FA: (for auction), WTB: (wanted to buy) etc. off of the subject header. (See Topic #1 below.) This works especially well if you misrepresent your own website or auction as someone else's. Another good way to lose customers is to make multiple or separate postings for items. You should combine as much into one posting as possible and adhere to the guidelines in the referenced FAQ. It can reasonably be inferred from the FAQ that: o MORE THAN TWO COMMERCIAL POSTS IN ANY 24 HOUR PERIOD IS SPAM!!! (And it would be wise to keep it under 10 per week.) o MORE THAN 2 POSTS PER WEEK TO THE SAME URL IS SPAM!!! (Note: Exemptions to the above if the advert is in your sig, if your advert sig is 4 lines x 80 characters or less and if you contribute something deemed numismatically useful in the way of fact or opinion most of the time. o NOTE THAT COMMERCIAL POSTS ARE PROHIBITED BY CHARTER FROM ALT.BINARIES.PICTURES.NUMISMATIC! But you can post images there and reference them from an advert in RCC. So make it count or keep out. This is a ZERO TOLERANCE NOSPAM newsgroup. THANK YOU -- TOP *10* TOPICS -- for newbies and casuals 1. It is preferable to set followups to one of the discussion groups and post a followup with a link news:message-id back to the binary article. Multimedia should be posted to a multimedia newsgroup. Off-topic material, advertising (spam), flooding, cancel attacks, virus infected binaries and abusive crosspostings are prohibited. The newsgroup is unmoderated.
