Default Old Sheaffer Ballpoint refill- Help!!

Hi.

I recently bought a very nice, almost unused, Sheaffer set with a FP
(looks like a balance with lever) very nice looking with a gold dot in
the clip, a ballpoint and a pencil. It looks like it's from the 40s
or 50s. I will be restoring the FP soon, but I wanted to see if I
could find a refill for the ballpoint. I took a picture of the one in
the pen right now. You can see it at:

http://www.eih.com/pix/sheaffer_bp.jpg

The refill has

W.A. SHEAFFER PEN CO
FORT MADISON, IA

written on it. Do you know where I can find a refill like that? Any
help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Bad news Elias, you cannot find these anymore. I have a 14K gold version of
your pen, and alas. On the other hand, someone on one of the newsgroups taught
me to make a converter using a regular bp refill, but I dont recall who. The
only problem is the tip doesn't look right, as modern bp refills are small, and
your refill has a large ball end.

Actually, not such bad news at all since now there is an easy solution
to making the old Sheaffer BPs that took the big aluminum refills work
again - it's acalled a Sheaffer Widget and these were tooled after an
original piece that Sheaffer designed back in the 1950s. You screw the
brass widget into the end of the pen, drop in a current production
Sheaffer BP refill, put a spring on back end and you're all set. Couple
extra steps if it's the push/twist early Stratowriter series, but still
do-able.

We have these available on the website with instructions or email me if
you need info.
