1820, 5 lire, Italian Silver coin
Anyone having info on an 1820, 5 lire, Italian Silver coin, please reply.
Coin is in proof condition. Need information on mintage, etc. Traded two coins (size of a US silver Dollar) for 5 gallons of diesel in Mogadishu, Somalia in 1993. Please email any response to above email address. Thanks MM |

I recently saw a rather high grade 19th century Italian (or Italian State -
actually I think) 5 Lira - large silver coin......... It was a fake. Also there are quite a few varieties of copies of the Ethiopian crown sized coins of about 100 years ago.... (the book by Gill on the coins of that part of Africa details those ones...). Also the fact that you got _two_ pieces.... This may put a doubt on your coins - but even if not real they were ok for the swap you did. Thanks Mr Paul Baker "Mike" wrote in message ...
