Default Hey... new to the group

Greetings to everyone! I'm another lurker-for-months who has enjoyed
reading the postings here. Since this topic is current, I thought I'd chime
in.

I live in Aurora, Colorado, near the Denver Mint and not too far from the
ANA. I've been collecting mainly circulated pocket change and coins gleaned
from bank rolls for about 20 years. I started collecting not even realizing
that groups (clubs or such online offerings as RCC) existed.

My collection includes:
All the modern denominations with Ikes and Kennedys being my favorites.
Mint and Proof sets.
Silver Eagles - what a beautiful coin!

I've asked a couple of questions here and gotten good replies. The postings
are thoughtful and responses are informed. I'm learning a lot from all of
you on such topics as bidding on eBay, cleaned coins, proper storage *sigh*
and other educational necessities. I'm working on learning to grade in
order to upgrade some of the collection.

Are there other folks here from my neck o' the high plains? If so, I'd
enjoy hearing from you. I'd like to know about shows, clubs, and such in
the area.

Welcome, Mysch! I'll respond to your last paragraph. The first 4 shows
mentioned below are sponsored by clubs based in the host cities. Other
clubs are closer to you (Denver and South Suburban, to name two). Info
about these and other clubs in the area will be available at some or all
of these shows.

We're about to enter the part of the year with the most shows in our
area.

Saturday, March 20 9-4, Pueblo, Best Western Townhouse on Santa Fe
Saturday, March 27 9-6, Ft. Collins, Lincoln Center (usually a great
show!)
Saturday, April 10 9-4, Longmont, Elks Lodge
Saturday, May 8 9-4, Cheyenne, WY Hitching Post Inn & Conference Center
Friday, May 21 through Sunday, May 23 Denver Coin & Stamp Expo, National
Western (stock show) Complex - the largest regularly held show in the
state if not the entire Rocky Mountain region

I'll have a table at the Ft. Collins and Denver shows and maybe the
Pueblo show. Hope to meet you (and any other r.c.c folks reading this)
at one of them.

Roscoe,

A pleasant surprise to hear from you given all of the catching up you must
be doing. So many people expressed concern for you, sent you get well/hurry
back wishes on RCC that it impressed me as being a group of folks who really
do take the time to get to know one another.

I'm about 9 miles or so east of the Mint and about 45 minutes by car (don't
know how many miles) from Colorado Springs and the ANA. I plan on taking a
trip out there some Saturday to see what their museum holds. Last time I
had that trip planned, they were remodelling. Should be interesting,
methinks.

Unfortunately, I don't have the room to accommodate guests (and I wouldn't
ever offer my cooking to another human being grimace) but I can sure tell
you about Colorado. I've been here for 7 years and have travelled to many
places here. It's an amazingly beautiful state!

I haven't been able to manage scanning coins, yet. My flatbed is a great
scanner for pics but the coins don't show up. Light too bright, I'd guess?
One of my prized possessions is an 1889 S Morgan. Mostly sentimental value,
of course. It's the coin that got me started in collecting, in a
round-about way. They don't make US coins like that anymore with the
exception of the American Silver Eagle. Our moderns are generally filled
with history, though, which is fun to learn about.

Thank you for the welcome, Roscoe. I wish you a speedy and full recovery.
