Default Tube question for rookie

Are all 12AX7 tubes the same? I know some people don't like the
Chinese-made ones because of poor quality. Are the 12AX7's in my
Seeburg the same ones found in a typical guitar amplifier? There
seems to be a wide-range of prices for this tube, so I don't know what
I should pay. In particular, I need one for the TSU on my 220.
Thanks in advance.

They aren't all the same, although they will interchange
just fine. Each tube has somewhat different sonics, and
there are also differences in quality. Actually, the latest
Chinese aren't bad!

What I'd recommend is either the Sovtek 12AX7LPS
or the EH 12AX7. Both are fine quality new production
tubes, and I have both for $9.75 ea., fully tested.

You can pay more, but the law of diminishing returns
definitely applies. I'm sure you'd be very pleased
with either of those tubes.

Check my site if you want to see what I have in
stock, I have thousands of tubes on hand.

Thanks!
