Default Challenge: Identify this coin

I have what appears to be a coin, except that its condition is well below
poor. I can't tell if it was originally gray or red/brown in color, or even
if the rims are flat or notched. From the condition, I'm guessing that
someone in the family found it buried in a yard or something. The entire
surface is rusted and corroded. I can't find any distinguishing marks
whatsoever.

All I can tell you is:

It is magnetic.
It is currently brown in color, but that might just be the rust/corrosion.
Its diameter is smaller than a dime's by the thickness of a dime's rim (so
maybe 16-17 mm?).

I tried cleaning it with vinegar/hot sauce, which actually improved it a
lot, but it is still just an unidentifiable mess. I might be able to sell
it on ebay if I payed the buyer to take it off my hands.

It is not a coin, it is a punch out from a conduit hole in a metal
junction box (electrics).

OK I might not be correct......but prove me wrong ;-)

With vinegar and hot sauce on it, I'd say it's a mini fajita.
