Default FA: 1909-S VDB 1c PCGS MS-63 RB..looks nicer

Ths coin is esentially full red on the obverse..lookslike asold MS-64
but the reverse has some areas of gray and dark splotches leading to
PCGS net grading to a MS-63RB. Still looks far better than most in this
grade & color designation.

See it at:

Thanks.

Ira

That's a beautiful coin ... sadly way out of my budget. But, when I
looked at the auction I did come up with a question, not directly
related to the coin. In the gray box just above the main photo, you
say ...
-----------------------------------
Special!
Are you protecting your valuable coins against spotting and corrosion?
Merely keeping in a safe or safe deposit box IS NOT ENOUGH!

Encapsulated coins are not protected against such damage either. The
plastic capsules are NEITHER air tight or moisture proof !

I use them to preserve my valuable coins, and so should you.

Please inquire.
---------------------------------
Did you exclude something or am I being dense? What do you use?

I use Intercept Shield boxes to protect the coins and I sell them too.
eBay actually phoned me and said I may not mention the name of the
product as it would then be considered fee avoidance, hence the
eviscerated text.

In point of fact, I use the inserts on all unc coins I ship and rarely
sell the other products. I just want to be sure the coins don't start
spotting while stored in a fire retardant safe, which will often happen
even with slabbed coins unless protected. I don't think I sell more
than 20 10-coin slab boxes by Intercept Shield in a year, but I go
through many times that amount myself.

if only they were so diligent about other (potentially more important
and more damaging) issues ...

Opinion of a non-expert. If you are going to be that picky and spend
that kind of money, consider the scan quality as possibly being
(non-intentionally) deceptive. You really have to see it in person to
judge accurately.

But yes, that is a mighty fine specimen. The red color is impressive.
You had better be sure of your grade, MS-63 is only $1300 in the Red
book. Very fine line between 63 and 64. Regardless, a very, very nice
coin.

Jim
