Hurry For AMERICOVER 2008 Discounts!

Sign up early for the events at the always-busy Americover 2008 August
22-24, and you could save as much as $17.

Americover is the annual first day cover show and convention of the
American First Day Cover Society. The three-day World Series of
Philately show will feature a large mostly-FDC bourse, cachetmakers
bourse, top exhibits, a banquet, meetings, seminars, youth booth,
pre-show area tour and post-show dinner event. A first day of issue
ceremony for the Ashton Potter and Avery Dennison versions of the 2008
Forever stamp and a forum by postal officials involved with first day
covers will be held.

This year's pre-show tour will take stamp collectors and their
families to a recently-renovated Mount Vernon (George Washington's
home) and the National Museum of the Marine Corps, opened less than
two years ago. The tour costs $35, but those signing up before June 30
will pay just $33.

Following the show, Americover 2008 will host a cookout with a
magic-and-comedy act at the hotel. The early-bird price is $58, or $60
after June 30.

There are discounts for the food events during the show, too.
Americover 2008's President's Banquet will be held Friday evening,
during which the winners of the annual cachet (FDC design) contest
will be announced and shown. The menu choices are Provence chicken,
seared salmon, or chili-rubbed pork tenderloin. The cost is $63 now,
$65 after the deadline.

The second major food event is Saturday night after the Cachetmakers
Bourse, about 9:30 or 10:00 p.m. Again, there's a $2 discount off the
$35 price for the box lunch with your choice of exotic sandwiches.

There are even greater savings for those signing up for all four
events: $178 before June 30, versus the $195 total for individual
events after June 30.

There's also a special Americover 2008 room rate at the three-star
Fairview Park Marriott: $104 a night, including breakfast and free
parking.
