For $10 a week UPS will stop by your house for package pickup 5 days a
week.

For free the USPS will stop by your house and pick up packages six days
a week!

Yup they will pickem up for free but its a crap shoot if they will
deliver them. USPS would typically loose $1000 worth of my product a
year. That's why I switched to UPS. Yes UPS costs a little more but
their service is garanteed. The hoiday season was always a nightmare
shipping bees but this year with UPS things went smooth as silk.

Will they also wrap the item and box it? That's what takes the time,
not taking it to the post office.

Oh, and if you use UPS you're going to get clobbered in the DSRs for
shipping. USPS is significantly cheaper on most items. And the postal
service stops by your house for pickup every day for free.

After USPS looses your package for a while and then finally gets
around to delivering it and you get 1 star for shipping time on Ebay
feedback, I think you will find the cost to be way higher than UPS.
There's a lot to said about getting rid of the stress in your life.
Free stuff is usually worth what you pay for it.

After switching to UPS to ship my bees I see my business growing
again! I lost many many customers due to USPS **** poor shipping
service.

We ship hundreds and hundreds of packages with USPS, we get perhaps one
a year that doesn't deliver. Almost always it is the recipient's fault
(no mail box, not the correct address, theft from common areas, etc.)
and in many of these cases UPS/FedEx would have had the same problems.

USPS is the best shipping alternative we have right now, no way that UPS
can touch it.

Ship in 24 hours and eBay's rating system won't accept entry for
shipping time. They are rating your time to the shipping company not the
shipping company's performance.

UPS is arrogant and obnoxious, always in a hurry, always looking for a way
to keep from having to take the package, and slower than molasses running
uphill in the winter, and they double park and tie up traffic

this past Christmas Season UPS shipped more than 1900 packages for me,lost
none, damaged one which was my fault

They delivered parcel post,1st class, and priority mail at the same speed
which was incredibly fast all winter and all over the world

the only backups were the overseas postal offices

Oops - you've shared your experience with us ($1000 loss). Someone who
doesn't
understand business, large shipments, and your situation will probably
call you
a liar. One guess as to who it will be. Ignore her. Please...you can
get good interaction with
most group members, don't give up!

Is that " hundreds and hundreds of packages with USPS" weekly or for
the year? I ship close to a hundred packages a week presently, and I
take it your packages don't have to make it thru alive? I've shipped
well over 120,000 boxes of bees in the past 20 yrs. Most of those
with USPS. I know more about the post office than I want to.

The post office isn't really any cheaper either. They loose several
billion dollars every year and we know who pays that debt.

Well, you have decided that USPS is not for you, which is fine. It works
well for us, however, the free boxes, free pickup, known pricing (a
major item for me!) and the fact that I don't get complaints about boxes
being tossed over fences, or left at the wrong addresses all make it my
top shipper.

As to the USPS losses, foolish not to capitalize on that. I'm getting
something for my money by using them, while people who don't ship with
USPS get nothing, but are paying for it in the end.

Shall we get political and get into why the USPS is loosing money? One
reason, and only one reason: Unions! Yes, the unions forced contracts on
the USPS that made no sense financially but everyone thought at the time
it was great! Now the USPS is paying billions in pensions and retired
health care, money that cannot be justified.
