Pinch roller woes on my Sony TC-530
Upon further inspection, I found that the pinch roller does not come in
contact with capstan when in the forward position. Is there a screw or something I can adjust to get proper contact with the capstan? I will post pictures if necessary. Rusty |

Most Sonys just used a spring loaded swing arm operated from a cam on the main function lever. There MAY be an adjustment that'll allow the pinch roller to hit the capstan, but my first thought it that something's not lubricated properly and the swing arm isn't moving on its pivot. Find the pivot for the pinch roller swing arm and you'll fix your problem....not that you'll get a very good machine, even when this is working! I'm pretty sure the mechanical (as horrid as it was) linkage arrangement on the 530 is similar to that of the 630, and it is troublesome, indeed. |
