Nice technique with the color adjustments on the camera. You'd almost think the
color was really that intense.

That's a "black beauty" nickel Bruce. Every one that I have seen do
really look that way.

Really? I've never seen such a thing happen naturally. How does this occur?

Believe it or not, this happens in the cello proof sets! A pin hole or
tear in the cello and the right atmosphere and it happens.
Here is one that belongs to Tim Puro:

If I remember correctly, his is in an ANACS slab. Another WINS member
has one as well but I can't find the e-mail that had the link to his.

My uncirculated "Baked" Nickel looks that color.

Dale

Yeah, I first thought baked. But no way would a baked coin fool PCGS or NGC. So
my next assumption was that Teletrade was messing with the color settings on the
camera again.

NOW I'm told that they really do come that way and I'm starting to think maybe I
want one.

are they all 1964?

Bruce

I'm not positive but I think so Bruce.

Which begs the question, what was so different about the 1964 5c or the
packaging thereof?

Some dealer had a *lot* of these in Baltimore. I really, really want one
now. I tried to go back and get one because I had dough left over (I seem
to be physically unable to leave a coin show with money) but I couldn't
find the table again...that freakin place was huge!! (
