Further.... circa SG308 the overprinted 20c on 25c tete-beche pair would that not create an inverted overpint? |

Switzerland query.
I was responding to a posting some time ago Blair,
when an inverted 20c on 25c overprint was called a "forgery" Based on the price of the tete-beche pair, I assumed (wrongly) that the tete-beche pair was a rarity, perhaps appearing once on an odd sheet. Hence I could see an "inverted" overprint appearing. I rang a colleague who specialises in Helvetia, and he explained the 'overprint type' would have been inverted to accomodate the tete-beche pair on each sheet, the tete-beche pair being on every sheet. Hope that explains. And the answer was? Curious minds want to know! Blair |
