Default Q: HCA - China

A collector in South Africa has sent me this image
http://cjoint.com/data/dAu0mGGtMt.htm
which is unknown to me.

He thinks that it was issued in 2005, but neither he nor I can find info
about the year of issuance. It is not registered by WNS (still awaiting
stamps for registration) or the official China Philatelic Website. However,
I remember vaguely having seen this image before, possible in a query here,
but cannot find anything fairly recent posts about it, not even through
Google. Can someone out there give me a clue, preferably with a link?
Thanks in advance.

Mette

It may be one of those privately produced
sheets using the "private tab" route.
I think the secret lies in obtaining a higher def of
the 80 yuan stamp, so we can identify that one first.

I doubt if it was 2005 as China issued 2 sheets of HCA that year
perf and self stick, with cartoons differing from the one supplied.

After all these years, the story of the conceited emperor
still has me smiling.

Thanks Rod :-) Having posted my query I had a vague suspicion of this
myself. Don't know why, maybe I was confused about the number of the sheet
that contains the letter Z at the end of the numbering (top right). I find
this "less usual" for Chinese stamps.

oh yes ... We are all constantly reminded every day by some modern civil
servants and their general behaviour ;-)

What you can do Mette, if so inclined,
is to archive web addresses of Cinderella producers
if, for no other reason than to check lineage of a sheet.

For example, if you keep "cool stamps" address
http://store.coolstamps.com/endeavor/index?c=

Type in "Hans Christian Andersen" and there will be sheets
featuring him from about 12 or so countries.
(including China)

Thanks Rod, that's a good idea. Coolstamps is actually famed for carrying
these issues. I have kept images of such issues in a special folder for
reference purposes, and the sheet that I received from South Africa will go
there too. This folder contains already a large variety of such "rarities"
from various topics within the scope of my websites ;-) I have forwarded
your answer to my South African correspondence, without disclosing your
identity.
