FA: 1921-D Walking Liberty Half
I posted this one a couple days ago as "look what I found in scrap
silver bag". http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=8421463824 I asked Heritage Auctions if they wanted to sell it for me or do an outright buy, and they declined but suggested that "you can get G4 money for the coin." So... take a look if you're interested. I've been told anything from AG-2 which seems low, to G-6 which seems high. I started bidding at one dollar, no reserve. Hopefully it won't sell that low... Thanks for looking, and if you buy, mention rcc and shipping and insurance is on me. Dave Hinz |

Most sellers would try to hype it as a VG, and I know of a couple who would call it Fine. I would nominate the walking liberty half as one of the most grossly overgraded series in all of coindom. Thank you. I don't go for the "L@@K", flashing red & blue text, animated graphics, or long terms of sale and conditions. "if there's a problem, I'll make it right". I don't sell lots of stuff but I don't see any point in all the BS some people put in their listings. I'm surprised that Ira is currently the high bidder, I didn't think this would be Ira-worthy? Most sellers would try to hype it as a VG, and I know of a couple who would call it Fine. I would nominate the walking liberty half as one of the most grossly overgraded series in all of coindom. I've asked more than a few sellers if perhaps they have the wrong pictures for the listing, because "your text says VF but the pictures are VG at best". Oddly enough, nothing positive ever comes of such questions. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see where the bidding goes on this one. I've been watching some of the other 21-D's and even the horrible ones are going for more than I'd think. This isn't a duplicate for me, but for whatever reason, this coin isn't bringing me any joy and I've got no attachment to it. Which is strange because most of the coins, walkers especially, once they go in the coin books they don't come out unless I upgrade them. But either way, this one just doesn't "do it" for me, whatever "it" is. It'll stay "coin money" of course. I guess I could also have put up an offer to trade here for something...interesting. Ah well, it has bids now so that's not an option. |

@individual.net: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=8421463824 I still gotta call this an AG-3, given the scratches and pit on obverse, the rim dings, and the detail. But, I'm sure many on ebaY would have called a VG-8 without batting an eye. I would agree with Mr. Jaggers that the WLH is 'one of the most grossly overgraded series in all of coindom'. It's just awful! I see that all the current bidders are RCC-folk, so I'll probably stay away from this one. But, I'll put it on my Watch List. And, if it doesn't get high enough for me near the end, I'll HAVE to make a bid of my own. Not that I'm any competition for the likes of Ira or the other RCCers who have already bid, but ya never know. I appreciate your honesty in the description. You're a good egg, Dave! -- Eric Babula Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA (Sell the way you'd like to be sold to.) |

It's just awful! Well, Heritage said go for G-4, or "for G4 money" more accurately. The skirt lines & details on the wing, like I said, it's a tough one. But I'm certainly providing clear enough pics. I see that all the current bidders are RCC-folk, so I'll probably stay away from this one. But, I'll put it on my Watch List. For your sake, I hope it goes for that, or even better! Good luck! Yeah, you're not one to mince words, are ya? VBG I call it 'brutal honesty' - and there's nothing wrong with that, as long as it's honesty, and not intentionally hurtful for no reason. I still say you're a good egg, no matter what image people might have of you, when you get 'brutally honest'! Keep up the good work in your selling tactics, and good luck on this auction! I think I'm safe in my grading, which looks conservative in comparison. |

I listed a 21-D a couple of weeks ago which was borderline "horrible" due to a past cleaning + an obvious rim ding (described in the listing) and you could have knocked me over with a feather when I saw where the final bid ended up- $250 over greysheet ask. *** Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com *** |

Ah, what are the greysheet numbers for this beastie, please? Or is that one of those "I can't tell you because terms of the subscription don't let me" or something? Are folks allowed to sell their old ones? |
