Thanks for all your help, and strength to you in a wonderful industry (i
think second-hand book dealers are doing god's work in the world - you
should all be nominated for sainthood)

I've had people tell me with complete poker-faces that if I would only
found a new religion they would follow me as though I were their one true
sufi master, priestess, rabbi, or guru. Whatever miniscule degree of crook
that might dwell within me that would even CONSIDER taking all their money
in trade for a few kabbalistic cliches is overcome by the far greater
worry that anyone who wants me to be their god is probably so crazy
they'll stab me in my sleep shortly after it dawns on them I'm not divine.
But in your example, well, as long as ALL used-booksellers are
misconstrued uniformly as saints, you're probably safe from the personal
stabbing.

I obviously have a different class of customer. The latest e-mail I

received, was "what are you doing saturday night darling"

"Of what are you afraid, my child?" inquired the kindly teacher.
"Oh, sir! The flowers, they are wild," replied the timid creature.
