Closing tonight, Monday, October 18th:
Thirteen lots of numislit, including "Advertures With Rare Coins" and
"The History of U S Coinage as illustrated by the Garrett Collection",
both important works by Q. David Bowers and inscribed by him on the
title page; "Beauty and Lore of Coins, Currency and Medals" by Dr.
Elvira Clain-Stefanelli; the 1977 Coin World Almanac; the July 2004
PCGS Population Report; a 1946 Wayte Raymond "Stand Guide to U S
Coinage"; Stewart's "The First United States Mint"; Swiatek-Breen
"Encyclopedia of Silver and Gold Commemorative Coins" (inscribed by
Swiatek); Taxay's "Illustrated History of United States Commemorative
Coinage"; Taxay's "Scott's Encyclopedia of U S Coins" (1st edition,
1971); Willem's "The United States Trade Dollar" (2nd edition, 1965)
and "Investors Guide to Collectiong Type I Double Eagles" by Winter
and Crum.

Closing tomorrow night, Tuesday, October 19th:
Eleven lots of new and lightly used Whitman "Classic" coin albums,
for half cents, large cents, Lincoln cents, Buffalo nickels, Mercury
dimes, Roosevelt dimes, Washington quarters, Liberty Walking half
dollars, Franklin half dollars, Kennedy half dollars and Morgan
dollars. This is a "housecleaning" sale, so everything is priced
cheep ... most albums start at $6.00, less than a third of what
they cost new.

I agree with you Ken. Bowers' Garrett book is one of the favorites in
my library. The history that it tells through the coins and his
correspondence is especially interesting. One that sticks out is a
price list from the mint for the early proof sets from the 1890's. As I
remember it, the "minor proof set" which included only the cent and the
nickel was listed for 8 cents!!! Can you believe it??? I need to go
back and get some of those!!!
