Default Need access NOW to high-quality book scanner -- Salt Lake City

Hello,

I'm posting this to several forums where someone here who has the
right connections in the Salt Lake City area may have the help I need.
It's a long-shot, but one never knows...

I have two quite old books (considered classics on typography and the
readability of type) on loan from a friend which I need to return
within a few days. I want to do high quality gray-scale scans of both
books (probably at 600 dpi -- they contain a few b&w photographs). One
book has 208 pages and the page size is 5x7"; the other book has 325
pages and the page size is 5.5x8".

One problem is that I need access to a book scanner which is very
gentle on the bindings. A flat bed scanner won't do (even the ones
where the glass is near the side so the book can hang off.) There are
professional-grade scanners built for this purpose. I'll be happy to
tend to the scanning process. Being short on funds, but long on
elbow grease, I can't spend much on this project, but can devote
some time/labor.

Besides "connections", any ideas you have to help me search locally
for what I need will be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Jon Noring
