OUTSIDER or BTWOS: which is harder to find?

Dear Horror/HPL Fans:
I have been watching ebay for several months for decent(not
ex-library) copies of HPL's THE OUTSIDER and BEYOND THE WALL OF SLEEP.
While several copies of BTWOS have come up for sale, I have yet to see
a copy of THE OUTSIDER.
Is this an indication of rarity? Is OUTSIDER that much harder to
find?

I keep my eyes peeled for them, too. Roughly speaking, I'd say they
are about equally rare by quantity, but the Outsider still pulls in
higher prices. The print run for BtWoS was actually slightly less
than that of the Outsider, making it rarer in that sense. I once went
to an Antiquarian Booksellers Convention in Los Angeles, and spotted 5
copies of the Outsider (and Brad Pitt, but that's another story) so
there are definitely Outsiders that are on the market at various
bookdealers. Of course, dealer prices are generally quite a bit
higher than what we all hope to pay on Ebay.

Yes.

Neither book is incredibly hard to find, but THE OUTSIDER is more
difficult, especially in a nice jacket.

Just an update. I was at the Los Angeles International Antiquarian
Book Fair this weekend. I spotted 3 BtWoS's, 2 Outsiders and 0 Brad
Pitts. When I left, the show contained 2 BtWoS's, 2 Outsiders and 0
Brad Pitts.

PS One BtWoS was Clark Ashton Smith's personal copy @ $6000. The same
dealer had a pristine-looking Outsider @ $7500. The remaining ones
were in the $1000-$2500 range.
