Help!!! Wiring in a GE portable?
Well, I've done something stupid. I was trying to fix my GE portable
player, and one of the four screws holding it together was so rusted I couldn't get it out. WD-40 was no help, I couldn't even drill the screw out with a reversible bit, so I resorted to prying the two halves of the case apart (as gently as possible) to break the post that one screw was anchored in. It worked, but oops - three of the wires that connect to a board in the top half of the shell came off whatever jumper or board they were soldered to on a board in the lower half :-( I can't figure out where these wires go, and (obviously) they player doesn't work at all without them - no radio, nothing. The three wires are a red, a black, and a green that loop around the frame of the speaker in the top half of the unit. I've put pictures of the unit itself, the "guts," and me holding the three wires. Can anyone help me figure out where these wires go back in and give me a clue as to the easiest way to fix this? Thanks! Pics linked below (mainly because I can't figure out 100% which type of portable this is - I was on 8trackheaven.com and they have a few different GE Portables, but I couldn't find one that is identical to this one). http://www.chickenfriedsteak.us/publ...re/8TRACK1.JPG http://www.chickenfriedsteak.us/publ...re/8TRACK2.JPG http://www.chickenfriedsteak.us/publ...re/8TRACK3.JPG |
