Default Greenland stamps

Hi,
As a newbie stamp collector, I'd like to ask your opinion on 2 questions
I'm struggling with:

1. Imagine a block of 4 Greenlandic stamps with numbered margin,
cancelled with a 1st Day cancellation.
Is the value of such a block of 4, determined by having a numbered
margin, or by its 1st Day cancellation, in other words: which feature is
more valuable?

2. As a "rule of thumb": how to determine the catalog value of a block
of 4 in general?

Thank you very much for your time!

To 1.
Defenitely the margin number - 1st day cancellation is not so popular
among collectors anymoore.

To 2. That differs very much. This form of collecting had been very much
popular some years ago, but decreased during the last years - though
there are some editions, that still are of greater interest than most
others. Generally the market for newer mint and 1st day cancelled stamps
of Greenland has broken down. The same aplies to the other scandinavian
counties. Well aftersought are stamps with genuine cancels, showing the
name of the postoffice and the date.

Hope this helps a bit

Peter
