TECH: Rockola 480 Display

I've got a 480 in the shop that has a problem with the "credit" and
"selection playing" displays. Most the times they burn very bright,
other times they get real dim, and a few minutes later they might be
bright again. It doesn't seem to matter whether the jukebox has been
on for awhile or whether it is first powered up. Is the display on its
last leg or is their likely another component failing that is causing
the display to dim? The disc popularity displays are always bright.
Any ideas?

Check that the edge connector is tight and that the contacts are clean
(use an eraser or fibreglass ckeaning pen) at the display. Also,
check the contact pins at the credit unit end and the plug at this
point. Third, check that there is no cold solder on the pins at the
credit unit. This will usually fix that problem. If not, then the
displays may be suspect.
