Default Advice on selling coins (Kennedy Errors)

Hello;

I am not a collector, but happened to open a roll of halves about 20
years ago to find 18 Kennedy halves that were struck off-center to
various degrees. The smallest error was just 1-2mm, while the largest
was about 15-20% of the diameter of the coin. A few of the coins also
look like they have some foreign substance stamped into them (like
scrap metal).

I have held on to these coins for quite a while, but now am thinking
about passing them along to someone who can enjoy them. I am thinking
about posting them in an Ebay auction.

What I would like your advice on is if I should sell them individually
(maybe auctioning one every few weeks with a photo until they are
gone), or would the value be higher if I offered all 18 coins in one
single auction? Do errors like these have more value if there are
multiple coins that show a progression?

The thing that brought this all to mind is an ebay auction that I
stumbled upon that has a single coin that looks exactly like one of my
18 errors. It appears to be going for a pretty good price (since until
now I wasn't sure if what I have had ANY value!)

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Possibly. I once saw a clock for sale on eBay with Buffalo nickels for
each of the numbers, each offset toward the appropriate direction (one
o'clock, two o'clock, etc.). Pretty cool stuff. If the sequence of
errors does show a progression, it might be a neat item to sell
together.

In general, it is more profitable to list items separately. If somebody
wants them all, they will end up bidding against people who only want
one or two. Net result: more money for you.

Care to share some pictures of your finds?

OK, OK... Hold off on the drool!

I'm going to be tied up for the next few days, but I'll try to get
some photos put together ASAP after that. Once I get some on my
webspace, I'll post a link to the photos in this thread.

Another related question:

Would it be worthwhile to have these coins authenticated or graded
before the sale? Does it add to the value?

If so, how do I go about doing this?

I guess someone else had the same idea. I saw a clock with Lincoln cents done
the same way a few months back at the coin show.
