A bibliomane in training friend set me this. I wanted to get it, forgot where I saw the review and now can't find it." It sounds familiar. If you had said "nonfiction," I would have thought this might be it: http://www.beacon.org/catalogs/f05/winston.html William M. Klimon http://www.gateofbliss.com |

I wouldn't be surprised if there were hundreds of fictional works (thousands?) that fit the above description. If, for example, "our weird culture" is a future space-opera universe (ok, that's really a stretch) there's "Ethan of Athos" by Bujold. That book William mentions sounds fascinating, though. -Allison -Allison |

Most people define "weird culture" as anything outside their own country (or neighborhood, in many cases)....which is why I asked. The book could be about Mormon missionaries who'd always lived in a small town here in Utah..... Kris |

Author male or female? American? Large publisher or small? A word from the title? I looked around some, and couldn't find anything close, but if it was issued by a smaller press, or in another country, it'll be harder to find a reference to. --Jon Meyers |
