Default 220 Tormat selection

I have a 220, in which I recapped the selector. My problem is the
selector will select all but three selection correctly. It seems to
not be able to find just those three. Is my problem in the Tormat or
somewhere else, any insight is appreciated. Thanks Greg

Did it (those 3 selections) work before? If so, retrace your steps.
Something didn't get connected or came loose. Rick.

Rick

This is my first refurbish and I created the cardinal sin before I
rebuilt the selector unit, that's right I did run the head but I did
not go through each indivial selection. I can tell you that it was
selecting randomly and adding extra plays. Now that I have rebuilt the
selector it is selecting correctly and it does not add additional
selections on it's own. The only selections that are missing are A-1
A-5 C-3. I have a spare tormat that I am going to try.

Have you cleaned the contact rivets on the Tormat and the center terminal bar
(the surface that faces toward the bottom when the Tormat is installed on the
back of the record magazine)? Is there any sign of burning or pitting on the
contacts associated with those particular selections? Have you dressed the
top surface of each contact pin that rides on the bottom of the Tormat and
contacts the contact rivets and the center terminal bar on the Tormat?

In most cases when you lose a single isolated selection (as opposed to a group
of selections) it's either dirty contacts OR a failure inside the Tormat. The
latter are very rare; I've only had one or two Tormats with internal damage
that would affect a single selection. The most likely cause would be a broken
read-out wire leading from the contact rivet for that selection.

Thanks "Tony" for the info, I will look at the suggested area's. Do
you know if the tormat is required to have some kind of lubricant on
it, if so what should I use. Thanks Greg

I've never used lubrication on the surface of the Tormat. I don't recall
seeing anything in the manual suggesting that.
