Civil War Storecard Tokens" by George and Melvin Fuld as MD60-1b with a rarity of R-6 on a R-1 (common) to R-10 (unique) scale. There were only a handful of Civil War tokens issued in Maryland, which should make this a very popular item even though it's the most common variety from the state. Kanzinger's "The Civil War Token Collectors Guide" lists the estimated value at $300 in Fine to Very Fine, $400 in XF and $550 in Uncirculated, the least expensive of all seventeen MD CWTs listed ... I suspect that the bidding ain't done yet on this item ... -- Ken Barr Numismatics P. O. Remembering Bryon Kanzinger. He died 3 years ago this week at the age of 32 of lymphoma. He was one of the most dedicated collectors I have ever met. His knowledge of Civil War Tokens could only be matched by a few. I would rate him with other notables such as Dave Bowers, George Fuld and Steve Tanenbaum. RIP Bryon. |
