Sorry Mame, if I had the $9K, I would buy it and let you look at it Nae,
on second thought I really do like Greek instead. But if I were a Bush, or
a Cheney I would happily buy it for you.

Funny you should mention that. I had a dream last week that I was in the
middle of no-where in a run down building that was the WhiteHouse sorting
through a hoard of coins with Colin Powel and thay other guy (I can't
remember his name). I wanted to keep some and I whent and asked George W for
permission. He said yes. I came back and Colin Powell was looking at some
old notes and he wanted to keep those. I said he could because I was just
after the coins.

I would hate to think what the meaning of that dream was.

Nice. And for one, perhaps, an undergraded coin. Maybe some
wear is more apparent in person...

This aureus is stunning, indeed. It's the most beautiful portrait I've seen of
I Domitian yet.

I spotted the coin a while ago (maybe when it was first offered), but kept mum,
hoping no one else would see it, love it and buy it.

Well, I guess if you need to complete your "Gold of the Twelve
Caesars" or something, it might be important. It does have a nice,
lively portrait, of course, but they usually do. Poor Domitian,
history treats him so badly. Did he really decline internally before
he saw enemies everywhere, or did the presence of enemies cause
clinical depression? We likely will never know. The coin calls him
"Germanicus," an inherited title, is that right, because he never
actually led the troops against the Germans?

All in all, a pretty coin, but if I had $9000 to dole out, you would
have to make a better case for your need. Is there anything from Magna
Graecia that catches your eye?
