Christmas Story" died this morning.

You know, it's my personal opinion that the new show mostly did not
work because the actor could not replace Darren McGavin; he made that
character what it was.... and in a Christmas story? CLASSIC. Very
depressing as we've lost a lot in the past 365 days...

I would have to agree, the new show took its self to seriously, the old
one was a little campy and fun , plus the show was a little too dark
writing wise and film wise, plus I'm getting a little tired of the no
shaving,outsider brooding type.

The old one was a little film noir (like you said, a bit campy) and
his character was older, wiser or more seasoned, and he was gruffer.
Much more suited to the role.

I didn't know about that. That was pretty shoddy then! Geez, what's
wrong with the writer's of today! Bad writing and reality
shows...reminds me of the Donald and Martha feud.

I am watching Trump now and a little miffed at him for his crude
remarks about Martha. Not that I am a fan of hers or anything, but
that was out of character. To me, he just has lost a lot of class;
greed over dignity is not good. But here I sit, not boycotting as I
should do. I always get sucked in.

One more thing,in the new show ,I'm not sure if if was the first or
second show they cut in the old Carl as the new Carl was walking thru
the newroom,it was so tacky it was crudely done, why did they just get
Darren to to a guest shot?

I'm getting a little tired of the no
shaving,outsider brooding type.

All they have nowadays are a bunch of punks who can't act. Some exceptions
are Matt Damon, Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt.

Matthew McConaughey and Ben Affleck are a joke. Just pretty faces for the
girls.

Cruise isn't bad. Damon isn't bad either I thought Good Will Hunting
was pretty good for a newbie!

.. Pitt is getting better but in the beginning, he was as you said. I
thought in Troy he did ok. Though I don't think he'll win an Academy
award anytime soon!

I think the last two are overrated too
