About to lose news group access, looking for info
For the last 3 or 4 years I have had no problem reading and posting
here. Now my isp, AT&T, is dropping support for newsgroups. I am looking for suggestions as to how to keep being able to use this group. It would also be nice to again have access to binary groups which AT&T dropped about a year ago. If it matters I am using an iMac running OS 10.5.7 and have a DSL connection. Thanks, Bruce |

Thanks, Bruce I went from AT@T to "free.teranews.com" a few months ago and have had no problems with set up or connections..... I also have had no problems with hitting their limited daily download limit. They support binaries and have a good retention time... RCC currently has 154,068 active messages going back to 6/10/2005. ABPN only goes back to 11/12/2005 with 56 messages... George -- Government is a voracious monster that must have your labor to control YOU! Your money is your liberty. They offer lots of other services too (way above my head) that might perhaps be of interest ... http://www.gradwell.net -- Roger Hunt |

Thanks for the information. It looks like I will give free.teranews.com
a try. Always like something that has "free" in it! Bruce Bruce Farley wrote: For the last 3 or 4 years I have had no problem reading and posting here. There is always http://groups.google.com which I use.
A couple of years ago, Earthlink outsourced Usenet to Supernews, and it never worked for many Earthlink customers in areas where Earthlink resells the local phone company's DSL service. Even with my valid Earthlink username and password, I get Error reported by Server: 502 Permission Denied-Service restricted to EarthLink member networks The only solution is to pay Earthlink an additional $10 a month for a fixed IP address, which they would then add to Supernews' allow list. |
