Default Inks

Hello

I have discovered some bottles of ink that I bought about ten to five years ago. Thay are mainly Parker and Waterman. Can anyone tell me if i can still use these inks, or will the fact that they've been opened affect the ink and therefore damage my pens?

Many thanks

Ink is merely collared water, As long as it looks okay, it probably
is. It will keep many years if not left open, in the sun or it doesn't
for some reason mould. The latter is easily seen, and doesn't happen
to inks unless they were crap to start with or someone/thing
contaminated them.

Also, if that Parker stuff is Quink, the inks you have from Parker and
Waterman are among the best ever made.

Use them with joy!

Are you sure you're not Frank? It should be illegal for folks like you, with
so low an IQ, to ever be within fifty feet of any writing instrument...
"collared"! Idiot.

I don't recall how long ago, but Parker Quink was sold in plastic
bottles in the recent past. If some are plastic, check for
evaporation and consider transfering the ink to glass bottles.

You might consider checking for evaporation in the bottles
regardless. There could be minor problems, e.g., skipping or
smudging, as the dye saturation increases. The lid liner may need
to be replaced if it no longer seals properly.

The age of the ink is not in itself need to worry. With
regularity, many in this group use ink that is decades old.

buuuuut...

depends on the ink... when was Superchrome discontinued? Penman?

I wouldn't say those are merely coloured water.

anything else would be fair game IMO. And I use Penman anyway despite
the dire warnings (thus far, fingers crossed, no problems)

Oh yeah, I agree 100%. I mean, only idiots make typos. I have never read a
typo in anything written by people who write for a living.

just got this ink yesterday. thus far.. well, it's okay but flat by
comparison to Levenger Raven.

Unfortunately, Raven was clogging a pen.

so is this really the most dense black FP ink out there other than
Raven?

I can tell you I've ruled out WM black as much too wimpy.

According to a PT article though - Aurora is the next best thing to
Raven. opine?
