I have looked in numerous places to find an answer to this question
and have none so far...so here it is...

what would a mint unused, never hinged, never used pre-cancelled USA
stamp be classified as....
I was thinking mint never hinged used?....doesn't seem to work
right .....any opinions?

thank in advance

Classified as in a catalog name or number?

"Pre-cancel" is a strange word in my opinion. I'm not sure when it
was invented, it appears in some books, but not in others.

Maybe a door? 8-)

It is an unmounted mint pre-cancelled stamp.

With complete gum but hinge it is mounted mint

With no gum or part gum it is used.

The term MNH, mint never hinged seems to be preferred by many people.
In my opinion, a mint stamp is just like it came out of the printing
machine, which means never hinged is not necessary.
The USA has some stamps that have the cancellation as part of the
stamp. Some the gum is a bit difficult to see.
Many countries precancel stamps as part of the printing process and
sell them the same price as mint stamps.
In my opinion again, once a precancel stamp leaves the postal service
control it is a used stamp.
