Default India the Majestic.

The Great Eastern Hotel Kolkata (Calcutta of old)
..........A quartet of 2 annas from the Hotel's Post Office Christmas 1951

Great Eastern Hotel was founded by David Wilson in 1841 and was known as Auckland Hotel.
Wilson’s Hotel, Auckland Hotel, Hall of Nations, Japani Hotel, Jewel of the East are the other names of Great Eastern
Hotel itself.
Mark Twain described it as the best hotel East of the Suez on his voyage along the Equator.

Rudyard Kipling mentioned the hotel in “The City of Dreadful Night”

It has been host to such notables as Queen Elizabeth II & Nikita Khruschev.
The hotel was privatised in November 2005 with the help of PricewaterhouseCoopers.
The hotel has been re-christened The Grand Great Eastern, Kolkata.
Currently, the hotel has over 244 rooms. (Still alive 2009)

Now feel it, and taste it............

"rodney"
Rudyard Kipling mentioned the hotel in “The City of Dreadful Night”

Perhaps, more correctly, "From sea to sea, and other sketches" Rudyard Kipling.
