Your math is incorrect in estimating the total silver weight of the
set. Sterling silver is .925 fine.

And, of course, they are not coins.

I have suggested to him that he list the gross weight of one of the
two-medal cards, and let the bidders guess how much of that is
cardboard and plastic.

And, of course, they are not coins.

I have a problem with The Franklin Mint saying things are "Solid Sterling
Silver."

"Solid Silver" would be correct if they were .999, but "Solid Sterling
Silver" is really a misnomer. Since sterling is .925, it is really only
partial silver.

Neat tokens though.

As the Franklin Mint did do a few early pieces that were silver clad,
calling stuff "solid sterling silver" to mean it is sterling silver all
the way through is informative and only slightly redundant. It is
certainly better than that modern crap sold as "one mil silver
proof!!!!!!!!!" where most of the buyers have no idea they are getting
silver-plated base metal.

"Solid" sterling silver is understood in the trade to not mean "hollowware"
or items formed from tubing, or candle holders and other items weighted
with plaster or lead.
