Cameo or Not?

I purchased the above coin off of Teletrade last week. It
came today, and the above photograph is reasonably accurate.
I live in New England, and the idea of owning a Kennedy with
really big hayah appeals to me.

Here's the $100+ question. Would you judge this coin as
a cameo?

From the photo, I would say cameo, but not deep or ultra cameo.

Nice coin Michael, I'll bet it's at least a 68. I've seen coins with that much contrast in
slabs without a cameo designation. There should be at least light frost over all devices
to qualify for cameo. It looks like a large area, the face, doesn't have any frost at all.
If held at a different angle, is there at least light frost on the face? Personally, I'd
give it an NGC type grade, numerical grade followed by a star, say MS68*.

Nice coin...The lighting may fool, but I does look cameo to me.

Isn't that an accented hair variety? The serif on the I seems to
point in that direction.

Yes it is the Accented Hair variety.. maybe about 100,000 of these exist out
of some three million plus 1964 Proof Sets that were sold.. a good thing to
cherrypick for if you go to a Coin Show with a lot of dealers selling Proof
Sets..

Cameo yes, just not deep.

seek to obtain one of those which have the frost-cameo ...

Actually PCGS graded the coin as Proof-66. Under a loupe, I see a
couple of milky spots on the obverse and one small tick on the
reverse. No Cameo on the holder, so I paid $45 after Teletrade's
premium and shipping.

I graded it as PR-67 Cameo, so I'm not a bit upset about paying a
small premium over retail. But I am interested in what I should be
looking for besides contrast between the fields and devices.

Can cameo be judged with any accuracy from a photograph?
