How to separate Scripto Ink Reserve pen section from barrel?
I recently got one of these on ebay, and although rather scratchy is
certainly very pretty and well-balanced. According to the seller it had been found in a warehouse where it had lain unmolested since the 50's. The bag is still ok, but I'd like to peek inside at it anyway, just out of curiosity. Trouble is, I can't for the life of me figure out how to separate the section from the barrel. There's a groove between them, with a gilded ring between. The ring doesn't quite encircle the whole circumference of the pen; on the underside it leaves a few milimetres free. Has anyone worked on this pen? Frank Dubiel treated the pen briefly in Da Book, but didn't mention this little feature. I vaguely remember this method of jointure on other pens in years past, before I started using fountain pens. Thanks in advance for any info which you can give. I've been reading over this group's archives. What a treasure it is! Even the periodic little spats are quite delightful. Frank Dubiel's posts alone should be made available in book form, they're so interesting. |
