Default Roberts 808D to the rescue

I just recently transferred 4 carts to my computer hard drive. One
twin pak REO Decade tape just would NOT play no matter what I did, in
the Pioneer -99. Kept dragging one spot that had been wrinkled up by
previous owner. After ironing, changing the roller, lubing it,
cleaning the tape, etc., it still dragged in that one spot every time.

So I dusted off the old Roberts 808D, and gave it a shot. Presto. Got
it transferred. Now I remember why I kept that deck around...

yeah the motors in those akai/roberts decks are something to behold.
im thinking of using mine as winch on my pickup truck.

If you geared it down enough, it would work !
