Question: Stained Stamps
I have many stamps stained from the brightly coloured envelopes of today,
red, green and what have you. Is there any economical way of removing them without damaging the stamps? Please help. -- Alfred Lee |

The only way I know is to keep them the less possible time in water when soaking, only the sufficient time to remove them from the paper, then end the soaking in a different place. Proceed stamp by stamp, and change regularly the water. -- DC |

PRINZ UHU hinge remover solution works well, 1:1 basis .... on
envelope. if dye transfered to stamp, it will also damage your drying book ... |

I've experimented with Clorox & water that worked, especially for red. I
kept a constant eye on them and as soon as the red disappeared I soaked them really well in fresh water. Typically it takes around 30 seconds to 1 minute, at least inthe experiments I've done anyway. I used 1 tsp Clorox to 4 tsp water. John Alfred Lee wrote: I have many stamps stained from the brightly coloured envelopes of today, red, green and what have you.
