An interesting take on the new Lincoln dollar and commems in general. Note the TV hucksters' exorbitant mark-up on items like this.

Even at more than $100 each...the markup is less than what one pays
for a Macbook or Cell Phone. Personally I like value added
accompanying the coin such as panels etc. There are plenty of
marketers that offer very little extra besides the high price
though.

Not sure if the added fluff justifies the price, but I do like the
look of the panels that the Bradford Exchange has for coin series like
the State Quarters. And I would be willing to buy one of two for
select states. But it seems the only option is to subscribe to the
entire series. I sent them a message asking if it was possible to buy
just the panels I wanted, but they never replied.

BTW, I am not surprised the Lincoln commemoratives have not sold out
quickly. I thought the Bald Eagle coins would sell out quickly last
year and called the mint day one to place my order since their website
was down for some reason. However, it was months before the coins
finally sold out, sometime during the holiday shopping season.

I am actually getting the Bradford Exchange Lincoln Penny Panels and
looking forward to their Inaugural Medal. They are well done.
Though if you want singles...I would recommend PCS (Postal
Commemorative Society). They have excellent customer service and
would probably ship you whatever you wanted...outside of a series.

Thanks. I have gotten mailings from PCS so I will contact them about
getting single issues.
