Default Stolen Coins, Keep an eye out please

The following Bust Half Dollars are missing and presumed stolen. The
coins were sent to ANACS for re-holder and disappeared while at ANACS
sometime in the past 100 days. All are in old style ANACS holders.

They were sent registered for $60K. Post Office paperwork shows they
were delivered to ANACS. ANACS has no record of the shipment or the
coins. This represents a good chunk of one of the finest Bust Half
collections in the country.

What a loss, but we certainly hope that they show up. Were they mailed to
Texas or
Ohio?

Sorry to hear that.

I thought that the Post Office required a personal signature (even in a
mail room) for acceptance of a Registered package. In that case
wouldn't the signer at ANACS be held responsible?

I know that they do that at my company, as I recovered a package as a
result of that policy.

Would postal insurance cover it if they show it as delivered?

This seems like a strange situation. I would assume that the USPS has a
signature to show they were actually delivered. In which case, the burden
would be on ANACS.

On the other hand, the USPS said it delivered a package to my house last
Friday at 1:30 PM. I was home at the time but I didn't hear the doorbell
ring and the package wasn't on my doorstep when I looked at 4:00 PM or again
at 8:00 after I looked on the USPS tracking site and saw that it said it had
been delivered. The package just disappeared and hasn't showed up yet.

But good luck! I hope they turn up.

ANACS is on the hook for this. But the money isn't the issue here. It will
take YEARS (decades?) to replace these coins, if it can be done.

No. It only covers loss while in post office hands.
