"gogu" wrote in message ... ? ?????? ??? ?????? oups.com... Hello. I'm a South Korean (a country near Japan). I know that the new testament is written in Greek. The Christinanity was introduced to our nation a few hundred years ago. Since our nation is in the far east, the Christinanity didn't come directly but through China or Japan. So many the names of people and places in the Korean version of the Bible sound a little bit strange through the eyes of current translation, I think. I found one common rules among the names. The last 's' is not pronounced. For example, Jesus, we pronounce the word as [jesu]. Judas [juda], Tomas[toma] and so on. I've never learned Greek, but in Greek, the last consonants are not pronounced just like in French? No, they are pronounced. You pronounce "Judas" (gr=iudas), "Tomas" (gr=Thomas), "Jesus" (gr=Iisus) and so on. Greek for Jesus is Iisos. It's "Iisus Hristos" bre Aga, have you forgotten even the few Greek you knew :-) Open a Greek Bible and you'll see ;-) It looks like we are both wrong. The original Greek bible says Iisousas it says on the site below. Of course it does, I wrote it "phonetic" for foreigners Aga! If I write "Iisous" a foreigner would read: Iis-o-u-s! So I wrote it in Greenglish, not in Greek! Excuses, excuses. OK Aga, you are always right ;-) Nothing new... Now can you tell me how you pronounce what you see he "Iisus" ?! And now can you tell me how you pronounce what you see he "Iisous" ?! Ahaaaa! Now you understand what I mean, right ?! Got it now ?! If you think that a Greek does not know how to pronounce the name of G-d, then you are naive. He thinks a Rrrrrrromanian gypo living in grease does not know how to pronounce the name of GOD you missed the "O" out again, DIP**** ! Proving that you are too dumb to spell the three letter name of G O D doesn't help your claims that you can pronounce it, does it dildohead ? NO ! PWNT ! |
