If you haven't spotted it, there is a history page at
http://riverapens.home.mindspring.co...ages/index.htm

It goes back to 1963. Interesting to see how the clip is more "out of the
way" in the 1964 models - I quite like the look of them.

Thanks. I didn't realize my pen was that old (1994 - 99). I bought it new
in '03 or '04.

The '94 one looks nicer than the latest bunch.

If you go back too far, the current nib contraptions no longer fit, and you
are into vintage territory. A shame, because I admire the technology, and
the nibs are brilliant. The modern clip is a disaster though; it's just
annoying to use. Why don't they cash in on more buyers, and do a "girls' "
model without a clip?

I was thinking about making a "frankenpen" out of one of the nibs. If I
filed off the locating flange (12 o'clock on top of the barrel), I'd have a
thin, good nib that I could graft into a clip-free holder, say a
hollowed-out sharpie...
