Final state quarter struck at Denver Mint

Associated Press - October 14, 2008 2:34 PM ET

DENVER (AP) - Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle led a
delegation to the Denver Mint for the production
of the first of that state's commemorative quarters.

The minting of the Hawaii state quarter Tuesday
ends a 10-year program in which coins were produced
commemorating each state.

Hawaii's coin features Hawaiian monarch King
Kamehameha I stretching his hands toward the
eight major Hawaiian Islands with the inscription
of the state motto in the Native Hawaiian language.
It will go into circulation Nov. 4.

More than 34 billion of the commemorative quarters
have been produced, released at 10-week intervals
in the order states were admitted into the Union.
Mint officials expect about 300 million Hawaii
quarters to be produced.

All of the 34 billion statehood quarters (which took ten years to
make) would pay for about 1/3 of the money that Hank Paulson (of the
Paulson Bailout) gave to J.P. Morgan/ Chase just today!!!
